Where Do We Agree With Each Other?

There are I believe a few things that most Republicans can agree on. Some of us believe we need to lower, and not raise taxes. A large number of us would say that government spending must be cut significantly, not expanded. Many of us would say that we want see less abortions, not more. Most of us see that we can win the war against Islamist Radicals, and should not surrender. We all agree that one day of Clinton or Obama is one too many; or do we agree on that?

Lowering taxes is vital to turning around the economic downward trend. It is a principle that Reagan and G.W. Bush saw very clearly in the past. Both of the two remaining candidates believe strongly in lowering taxes. I will also say though the Democratic candidates have said they would raise taxes. America cannot afford to have taxes raised it would be disasters for our economy. Tax hikes even if only on business would send us into at best a recession and at worst a full economic depression. It is our duty as Americans to do everything in our power to help our country, and never do anything harmful to it.

Cutting government spending is also vital to improving our economy over the next twenty plus years. When looking at our economy we cannot just look at the next year or so. We must focus on what will be the best over a generation, and continue to make adjustments in that direction every year. Right now everyone is focused on a short-term stimulus package that will probably improve the economic growth for about six months maybe a year. Our next president will have to do a lot more than that to make this country better. They need to cut spending drastically over the next four to eight years. Entitlements are the reason for the deficit. How do we cut Social Security and Welfare spending? Well first, we need to hold the line on new entitlements. We must keep Clinton or Obama from passing their healthcare plans. Then we need to find real SS reform. This yes means that we need to wean people away from government reliance for income. Sen. McCain voted No State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) reauthorization that is the one President Bush vetoed. McCain also voted yes on the Welfare Reform Act of 1996, which took small steps to cut welfare spending (Project Vote Smart). He has also spoken out very strongly against Pork Barrel spending he has never added Pork to any bill. He has also vowed to veto any bill that has Pork in it, and he makes it a habit never to promise things he will not do.

The number of abortions in this country needs to be lower. I would like to see a day when there are no abortions. Clinton and Obama both say they will fight for a women’s right to choose. You cannot choose to commit murder in this country without consequences; what makes abortion any different? Sen. McCain has voted many times for restrictions on abortion, and has said many times he would appoint strict Constructionist Judges. Clinton and Obama would appoint Judges that would use foreign law and a “Living Constitution.” This would take a minimum of twenty years to fix possibly more than fifty. Does that really sound good to you? It does not sound at all acceptable to me.

The war on Islamist Terrorist as hard as it has been on our military can be, and must be won. Most conservatives can agree this one area. This is one area John McCain will stand stronger than any of the candidates are. He was right when he said we needed to send more troops to Iraq. Now we must stay and at minimum allow a Western-indifferent government to succeed. We must take the fight to Terrorists where they are including Osama Bin laden. We do not have the choice as the Democrats think of surrendering with honor, and talking to Islamists about our differences. The Islamist Terrorists want every non-Muslim dead. They will not live in peace with the rest of the world until Sharia law is everywhere. This is something that John McCain knows; he will never be ready to surrender to the terrorists. This is the most important issue that we have faced in the past fifty years. Yet some people are talking about “sitting out” this election, or even worse casting a vote for one of the Democrats over John McCain.

I was going to try to keep this nice, but I have to say this if you cast a vote for someone other than John McCain hoping for political gain in 2012 you are the worst kind of traitor there has ever been. Your children’s children will suffer the consequences of your actions. I plead with you not to be so foolish as to punish your children, because you do not agree with a candidate on every issue. If you think, Reagan would be proud of you for not abandoning your conservative principles by not voting you are very wrong. In 1976, Reagan campaigned for Gerald Ford knowing that the consequences would not be good if Carter won. Think about how much higher the stakes are in the upcoming election. He would not want us to abandon the brilliant conservative principles that have made this country great. He would ask you to use your common sense and work hard to elect John McCain, and to work hard to balance congress by electing conservative Congressmen across the country.
